The SL-44 is a dual connector serial cable with 9 and 25 pin female connectors either end.

The SL-503 is a 9 pin to 25 pin serial printer cable commonly used for serial laser printers.

Plugging into the common PC serial port (9 D), the AT modem style cables are wired as follows; 1-8, 2-3, 3-2, 4-20, 5-7, 6-6, 7-4, 8-5, 9-22. The XT cables are wired on a straight through configuration with pins 1- 8, 11, 15, 17, 18, 20, 22, 23 & 25 connected.
