Enhanced Graphics Adaptor(EGA) extension cable. EGA cables are used for older computers or graphics card with a 9 pin configuration. The pinouts are configured straight through so could also be used as serial cables.

The SL-503 is a 9 pin to 25 pin serial printer cable commonly used for serial laser printers.

Plugging into the common PC serial port (9 D), the AT modem style cables are wired as follows; 1-8, 2-3, 3-2, 4-20, 5-7, 6-6, 7-4, 8-5, 9-22. The XT cables are wired on a straight through configuration with pins 1- 8, 11, 15, 17, 18, 20, 22, 23 & 25 connected.

The serial printer cables feature either the 25 D (XT) connector or the 9 D (AT) type. The cables are fully moulded using foiled screened cable. For the wiring of each cable please refer to each section below.

The cables feature either the traditional 25 D type RS232 connector or the now more commonly fitted 9 D type serial connector. As the serial port on most PCs is a plug or male the most common interface cable tends to be a socket to socket (female to female).
